WALES AND EASTERN EUROPE

Posted by Jeff Rees on October 17, 2007 8:15 AM |

The Flemish International Relations Minister Geert Bourgeois (Flemish nationalist) has opened a diplomatic office in the Polish capital Warsaw.
"EU enlargement has shifted the balance of power more to the east. Flanders too wants to place greater emphasis on the new and future member states".
"Good relations with central and eastern Europe are good news for our businesses and for Flanders, one of the European states".
He also believes in the importance of having our own Flemish representative abroad.

The Welsh Government has offices overseas though still not diplomatic or with any in eastern Europe.

Flanders also has representations with the International Labour Organisation, the World Health Organisation and the World Trade Organisation.

So should Wales.
