WALES'S PUBLIC BROADCASTER

Posted by Jeff Rees on March 12, 2007 6:07 PM |

The VRT must submit an annual report to the Flemish government before 1st June, on the degree to which performance criteria have been met. The VRT does this in its annual report, which is also available to the public. In the autumn a management delegate gives an elucidation of this before the Flemish Parliament.
The management contract between the VRT and the Flemish government is made every five years by way of negotiations and talks between both parties. The stipulations regarding the content, time frame, reporting, and possible amendments or extensions of the contract are laid down in a decree.

Broadcasting in Wales is still controlled by the British, these matters should be devolved as they are in Flanders. To see officials from a Welsh licensed broadcaster explaining their strategy and results for Wales before the Senedd is the norm we should aspire to.
